Labour will create a role for a Minister for England!

On the 16th May 2017, Labour’s British manifesto called for a First Minister for England….

It is clear for all to see: Labour will create a role for a Minister for England!

We need a relationship of equals with devolved administrations. Labour will create a role for a Minister for England, who will sit under the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, and will work with the Secretaries of State for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. :e will restore regional offices to increase contact between central and local government on the ground. Labour will be guided by public opinion when determining whether to include directly elected mayors in future devolution deals.

Now, lets see if the Conservatives produce an English manifesto?

  1. Thanks for ” unearthing” this info; so far the media or the Labour Party hav not been forthcoming on this “revolution ” Slowly the politicos are getting the message that we have been promoting since 1998.
Neal Ascherson was very dismissive about the English in last month’s Prospect magazine.. I responded and my letter is in the June Issue headed Abnormal English,
    Ascherson’s description.

  2. Now if Labour started talking about an English parliament, that might be worth talking about, but I think this plan will just be kicked into the long grass.
